Shannon Hong, Web Editor-in-Chief

Senior Shannon Hong is the Web Editor-in-Chief of Nordic News for the 2018-2019 school year. Her goal is to expand Nordic’s online presence through social media and by improving the design of the website. She also aims to lead her fellow staff members in producing relevant, interesting stories that serves all readers. Outside of Nordic, she can be found as a full IB student and an executive officer of Science Olympiad. Her passions include but are not limited to neurology, environmental science and photography.

Band prepares to march into a new season

Band students line up to practice marching. Something thats really important about marching band is looking coordinated and united, senior Ethan Mah said. So having everybody be able to perform the exact same way is what makes it look so clean.

Band instructor Bruce Wilson motions the band to move forward as they practice marching through the general layout of a football game. Playing while marching is really difficult but it gets easier with total focus during practices, junior Ethan Fisher said.

Freshman Jaclyn Woo, sophomore Ellie Pratt, sophomore Christopher Willis and sophomore Gavin Hudkins practice marching with their instruments. Normally, we arrange like instruments together with symmetry across the band in order to have the right sounds come out when and where we need them, Duchastel said.
